The Role of The Sports Therapist Within Sport and Sporting Injuries:

As Musculo-Skeletal experts, most injuries involving Muscle, Tendon, Ligament or Bone are able to be treated by Sports Therapists, this includes;

  • Sprains

  • Strains

  • Ruptures (Such as Post-Surgery intervention)

  • Breaks

  • 'Tightness'

But this is just a small list! Be sure to call 07714 596 701 to see what we can do for your specific situation.

Physiotherapy

Injury Assessment

Assessment of an acute sports injury involves ROM testing, muscular testing and (in some circumstances) neural testing.
Our 'Injury Assessment' sessions last between an hour and an hour and a half, to ensure a complete assessment is completed. Before the next session, we collect and decipher what we have found, to provide a Working Hypothesis or Diagnosis.
Assessment is key! Without a session to assess the situation, neither of us will know what has to be done in order to improve and move forward.

Injury Diagnosis

Once we complete an 'Initial Consultation', we can provide a Working Hypothesis and/ or Diagnosis.
Say that you have injured your ankle and require Sports Therapy treatment, we will create a small piece of work describing what we believe to be the cause of pain, helping you understand what exactly had happened. Following this, we will then provide a treatment or rehabilitation plan so you know what we expect of you for the following weeks/ months.
Each person, as each injury, is different, and what may work well for someone else may not be as beneficial to you. You're plan may need to be updated as things progress. which is fine!

Injury Treatment

There is a large variety of treatment modalities which we can adopt and use as Sports Therapists. Muscular aches and pains are not uncommon for active individuals, but if you think you need further, more specialised treatment, then get in touch and see how we can help.
From Shoulder ligament sprains to Hip labral tears, we will research and learn to provide you the best and most up-to-date treatment techniques, which could involve Dynamic and Static Stretches, Manual Therapy, Massage and TENS.
We are always trying to include other methods into our skillset, so if there is anything which you think would benefit yourself and others, let us know and you may see the method you suggested!

Injury Rehabilitation

For more severe injuries such as an ACL Rupture, treatment and rehabilitation may have to wait until surgery has occurs. In this instance, we can assist you in Prehabilitation (things you should do to optimise the outcome of the surgery ) and work with you to create a full rehabilitation plan specific to your needs and requirements.
Rehabilitation isn't just for sports injuries either, if you've had a fall at work, or experience pain performing a specific task, we may be able to help resolve these personal injuries. For those who are involved in sport, Rehabilitation can be adjusted to suit your needs, for example, someone in the Athletics Community will require different treatment compared to those who is involved in Dance or Weightlifting.
Anytime Therapy can also help for post-surgery instances, helping you, not only get back to your sport, but also get back to everyday life.

Injury Prevention

Those involved in sport understand the importance of maintaining and improving functionality of each body motion.
We know that to prevent knee injuries, it is recommended to maintain a healthy weight, wear supported and well-fitted shoes, keep your legs, butt, hip and core muscles strong, and those are just a few things that we, as Sports Therapists, can assist you with.

Taping a shoulder wound

Sports Taping

In most sports injury circumstances, we will not stop you from taking part in the activities you love, but that doesn't mean we will not help you in every way we can.
With a few pieces of tape, we can support elbow injuries such as Tennis Elbow, and provide relief so that you can continue to play and excel in your sport.
Anytime Therapy can provide both Conventional taping and Kinesiology taping to suit your needs.

Massage

Sports Massage

If you've ever experienced lower back pain, then this service is exactly what you need. If you are finding it hard to bend over each day, or you just know your back isn't as it should be, then you may benefit from a Sports Massage.
Sports Massages utilise the techniques of Effleurage, Pertisage and Tapotement to relieve muscular tension and improve function.
Sports Massages can also be beneficial to sports injuries. Before good treatment and rehabilitation can begin, muscular problems need to be relaxed and in a position to receive and accept different treatment techniques, meaning a 'Sports Massage' can be classed as a therapeutic technique.
Alternatively, they can be a great treat post-competition or as a gift!
