Living in a Covid-19 World (Lockdown 2)

Facing another long period of time in quarantine/ isolation again, it is important to go over important standards which we should all try to follow, to keep healthy and safe in this uncertain time.

KEEP ACTIVE – you need to take your own experience into account for this one. If you are normally unable to exercise as much due to work and other obligations, now is the chance to take a few moments out of your day to stand up and have a walk. Even if it is just up and down your stairs, or round and round your house, every little bit of activity helps. And if you are a runner, now’s your chance to focus on that PB!

NUTRITION – Spending longer at home, you may now be tempted to eat ‘less-than-optimally’ throughout the day. Remember to eat lots of fruit and vegetables and forget the saturated fats, but do not fear sugar. Everything in moderation!

SLEEP – With the necessity to travel to work gone, people are more than likely going to spend that extra few minutes tucked up in bed. What they will not realise is that they will probably not benefit from this, and it will show in their quality of work. Subconsciously, the routine that you build for yourself before work is preparing you to do so, and waking up an hour later than usual will disrupt the system, you may feel sluggish or slower than usual to get into Work Mode. Try to get an adequate 7-8 hours of sleep per night and maintain a normal sleep pattern.

MENTAL HEALTH – There is a corelation between isolation and the suffering of mental health, especially concerning those who live alone. Please make sure to take advantage of social apps like WhatsApp and Skype to keep in contact with each other, whether that be with messages, calls or videos.
